What Impact did the Europeans have on the Aboriginals? Aboriginals lived a noble and honourable life, they hunted only what they needed and lived off the land. Though they lived off the land they also repaid it. Upon arrival of the Europeans everything changed. The Europeans thought they were making a good impact on these noble people. The impacts that they had been devastating they took their rights, their land and killed many of these noble people. When the Europeans arrived they had brought a disease with them, hiding within the old ships called Hulks. Hulks are massive old ships that were modified to a prison to ship convicts from Britain to Australia. The disease that was brought with them was small pox which the Aboriginals were not yet immune to. Small pox causes blister like marks on the skin and can also cause blindness and scarring. Awhile after the arrival of Europeans, many Aboriginals died from small pox the only difference in their life recently was the settlement of Europeans. This was not the only direct impact on Aboriginals by the Europeans. The Europeans also suppressed their Religion and Beliefs. Upon arrival of the Europeans they saw no churches, no practices of religion that was known to them and thought they had no religion, so they forced upon the Aboriginals Christianity. Though the Aboriginals did practice religion, when the Europeans saw they had no idea what they were attempting to do. The Europeans also built towns in which they would kidnap the Aboriginal children and make them follow the way of Christianity, to speak English and to do labour work. Also the land where the towns were built, was land stolen from the Aboriginals Europeans had took their land and built their own establishments upon it. When the Europeans had arrived they saw that the Aborigines had no establishments upon their land and decided that they would claim for themselves. When the Europeans took the land they also took the Aborigines right to live, gather and hunt on their sacred land. The Europeans believe that if there is no building on land then it belongs to no man, though the Aborigines lived with nature and did not establish any buildings. The Europeans attempt to help the Aboriginals turned out to be oppression on their ways. Though the Europeans did build Homes, they provided food and jobs for the Aboriginals. However the Aboriginals Homes were built on sacred land and small built, the jobs were of slaves and they were also forced to speak English and follow Christianity for their so called ‘perks’. The Europeans killed many Aboriginals with a disease brought along their voyage; they made them follow them in their ways and stole their land with force. Making direct impacts on them and almost bringing them to the brink of extinction.
